simple syrup
simple syrup is … well … super simple! i like making mine from scratch so i know exactly what goes into it, and making your own variation is super easy as well
to make the base for all simple syrups simply boil 1 cup of water and add 1 cup of sugar (or any 1:1 ratio) and heat on medium/low eat until all the sugar is dissolved
to make vanilla simple syrup let the sugar and water cool and add as much vanilla as desired… i usually go with about half a tablespoon, and it varies with how much syrup you make
i mainly use this to pour into my chai tea latte
to make caramel simple syrup i just stir in Smucker’s caramel sauce (it’s actually caramel butterscotch and it’s delicious) while the simple syrup is still on the stove. true, this may not be the healthiest but it’s so worth it in my opinion
pour a little bit of this into a caramel macchiato and you’re in heaven
