late night cooking
last night i was hanging out with some friends and we got hungry so i whipped up a few late-night entrees.  which i’m going to try to replicate today because they actually were really tasty and not that unhealthy and i want to take pictures one: stir-fry veggies with teriyaki sauce, general tsao sauce, and soy sauce, with an egg scrambled in two: animal-style grilled cheese (mushrooms...

Salmon w. Fig Balsamic Glaze
for Valentine’s Day i promised to make dinner and decided i wanted to make something special (but simple and healthy!) this fig balsamic glaze was absolutely delicious, and the whole dinner was ready in about half an hour Ingredients: (note: the recipe calls for “fig balsamic vinegar” but i used a heaping tablespoon of fig spread [that is usually paired with cheese] and 1/4...

Chinese Chicken Lettuce Wraps (as seen on...
I always look forward to friendly gatherings, especially if they involve food, so, naturally, I was pumped for the Super Bowl this past weekend. This year, I wanted to make something delicious that everyone would enjoy, while keeping it healthy and light. In addition to making some baked sweet potato fries, which are my go-to healthy side dish, I decided to make some Chinese chicken lettuce...

FINALLY someone recognizes what's going on!
as i was checking my email about a minute ago, i saw on the news feed an article by Huffington Post discussing the undercover world of “thinspiration” blogging. as you may or may not have read my “About My Blog” section, but this is exactly what I’m talking about. of course, posting this entry on tumblr, i feel like i may be preaching to the choir. so instead of...

official waste of $6.49:
truvia.  i tried to make my vanilla simple syrup out of truvia this time. it tastes so bad. and then it solidified at the bottom of my adorable syrup bottles. so… yea i’m just going to stick with normal sugar from now on. none of this “sweetener that tastes like real sugar” nonsense

latest curiosity...
peanut butter. it seems like i keep hearing such different opinion s about whether it’s “good” or “bad” to eat.  true, it’s pretty calorie-dense … but that’s just about the only thing i can find wrong with it. sure, if you’re sitting on the couch eating peanut butter by the spoonful, it probably won’t be the best for your...

so i made sweet potato fries... again...
but these were the best batch so far without a doubt. honestly, i don’t think i can even call what i’ve been making “sweet potato fries” after tasting what i made last night  i prepared these ahead of time so that all i had to do was cook them once we got to our friend’s apartment to watch the superbowl i made these a little differently: 1. preheat oven to 450 2....
